Pete Sandford

Pete is a card-carrying ' petrolhead' from Hayling Island near Portsmouth and he likes nothing better than to spend his weekends racing a Rotax-engined kart or whizzing round the local country lanes on his motorbike.

When not using up more than his fair share of the world's fossil fuels, Pete can be found in the office of his internet business or at his easel creating paintings and prints that are sold worldwide.

As an ex hang-glider pilot and wave-jumping windsurfer, Pete's always up for a challenge so deciding to apply to take part in the Plymouth-Banjul was a no-brainer.

Mark Eveleigh

In 1992 Mark spent six hours reviewing his life while swinging from the end of a fraying cable in the world's highest cable-car, in Venezuela.
The psychological shock of this experience was enough to send him plummeting down the slippery slope into the shadowy world of freelance travel-writing.
He has since worked for more than 50 magazines and newspapers (in almost as many countries) and has now vowed to dedicate his career to turning 'the adventures of the Sand Bug' into one of the great works of learned travel journalism of the new millennia.
Inshallah!
